Corinthia Hotel Khartoum
The Corinthia Hotel Khartoum , formerly Burj al-Fateh , is a five-star hotel in the center of Khartoum , the capital of Sudan . It is located on the banks of the Blue Nile , right next to the Khartoum Friendship Hall and the Tuti Bridge .
The 19-story hotel was completed in 2007 and opened in January 2009. It was built and financed by a Libyan state company. The cost of construction amounted to 80 million US dollars .
The building has a curved, oval façade that is designed to resemble a dhow . It is sometimes referred to as a somewhat stocky imitation of Burj al-Arab in Dubai . The locals nicknamed it the "Khartoum Egg".
