Burkhard Mohr (composer)

Burkhard Mohr (born May 26, 1955 in Gambach ) is a German organist and composer of modern classical music.

Life

Burkhard Mohr received his first music lessons from his father Erwin Mohr, from Reinhardt Menger and Hans Georg Bertram . Kurt Hessenberg and Heinz Werner Zimmermann were among his teachers at the Frankfurt University of Music . This was followed by composition studies with Hans Ulrich Engelmann and at the Darmstadt summer courses for new music in 1974 and 1976. He then took on activities as a church musician and lecturer / teacher in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden . Since 2018 he has been a freelance composer in the field of modern classical music. Mohr is a member of the German Composers' Association. He is married to the organist and conductor Petra Mohr.
