Burkhart Schneider

Burkhart Schneider SJ (born September 1, 1917 , † May 7, 1976 ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

In 1936 he entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus and two years later began the first year of philosophy in Pullach . But in April 1939 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . In 1940 he came to the general command of an air corps, where he participated in the Russian campaign. After ordination in 1948, studied with Hugo Rahner in Innsbruck to do his doctorate with him . In 1954 he received his doctorate in theology in Innsbruck ( Ignatius von Loyola as a politician and diplomat. An introduction to the Prince's Letters of the Holy). From autumn 1954 he taught as professor for modern church history at the Gregorian University .
