The Bus Station Zurich , until the renaming in 2017 Carparkplatz Sihlquai , is a central stopping place for long-distance buses and coaches in Zurich . It is located north of the main train station and west of the Swiss National Museum on the Sihl . The car park is a short walking distance from the main train station. In addition, the nearby Sihlquai / HB tram stop is served by lines 4, 13 and 17 of the Zurich transport company.

The Bus Station Zurich is one of the largest bus hubs in Switzerland and is owned by the City of Zurich. After discussions about relocating at the beginning of the 21st century, the space is to be used provisionally for another ten years as of 2017. The car park currently has around 40 chargeable parking spaces.

At the end of the 2010s there were discussions about whether residential or commercial buildings should be built at this location, or whether a congress center should even be built. In September 2019, the decision was made in favor of a further improvement of the bus station, which is to be maintained for the next fifteen years. The bus station is one of the last not yet built-up squares in downtown Zurich, and the city of Zurich is already well positioned in terms of congress halls (reopening of the Kongresshaus am See, 2021, "The Circle" at the airport Zurich).

Bus routes

Companies such as Expressbus and Eurolines serve particularly regular routes to Eastern Europe and Italy. The German companies FlixBus and IC Bus serve destinations from Zurich mainly in German cities, partly also in northern Italy, the neighboring countries, Benelux and Eastern European countries. Flixbus offers up to seven daily direct connections to Basel-Mulhouse Airport , an important location for the low-cost airline EasyJet .

Historical
