Bustier

Bustier

A bra ([ bystje ]; from French to bust , upper body ',' bra ') is similar to the Torselett a close-fitting short upper part , but which is shorter. It only goes down to the ribs or waist . Similar to a bra , it is used to shape and keep the female breast in shape.

A forerunner of the bustier is the corset protector , a piece of clothing made of white linen or cotton that was worn over the corset in the late 19th century to protect the inside of the waist or blouse from abrasion by the corset clasp ( planchet ). The last corset protectors can hardly be distinguished from the flat bras of the 1920s.
