Greaseproof paper
Greaseproof paper, or parchment substitute , is a wood-free , greaseproof paper that is used to wrap food. In contrast to real parchment , it is neither waterproof nor boil-proof.
The grease tightness is achieved by a greasy grinding of the fibers. The fibers are squeezed and the absorbency of the paper is greatly reduced. Parchment substitute is also laminated for packaging purposes . The basis weight is 40 to 80 g / m². If the weight per unit area is less than 40 g / m², it is called glassine .
