Budvydas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Budvydas (also called Budividas and Pukuveras ; † around 1295 ) was the Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1291 to around 1295 . Budvydas was the son or nephew of Vaišelga , but the details are unclear. He took over the rulership in 1291 after the death of his brother Butegeidis . His short term in office was marked by battles with the Teutonic Order . He had a total of four sons, with whom the history of the Lithuanian dynasty is better documented than before. After his death, his son Vytenis took power over the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
