Butyrylation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Butyrylierung is a post-translational modification of proteins .

properties

Butyrylations occur in eukaryotes . In addition to acetylation , propionylation , crotonylation , myristylation and palmitoylation , it is a form of acylation of proteins. The butyrylation takes place on the ε- amino group of lysines . For example, butyrylated proteins in eukaryotes are histones . The butyrylation as well as the propionylation in eukaryotes is probably catalyzed by the enzymes p300 and CREB binding protein , but using butyryl-CoA .
