The Butzensee is around one hectare in size, close to nature. It belongs to the municipality of Bodelshausen in the district of Tübingen and is located at the entrance to the village at the exit of the federal road 27 .

The Butzensee is a scenic feature and a valuable biotope , as it offers nesting opportunities for various endangered bird species in the reed belt surrounding it .

In the past, the Butzensee was once the largest Voralbsee in Württemberg , but its area was reduced further and further for agricultural reasons and for the purpose of road construction. The lake is fed and drained by the Mühlbach, an upper course of the Krebsbach .

He served the local brewery as an ice cream supplier until well into the 20th century.
