History of origin
When the trained bookbinder Christian Friedrich Müller tried to gain a foothold commercially in Karlsruhe in 1797, he encountered resistance. On January 2, 1797, the long-established booksellers turned to their prince and demanded the “most gracious rejection of Müller's request to set up a bookstore”. In conversations and letters, Christian Friedrich Müller succeeds in repeatedly pointing out the relationships he had established during his wandering years and thus seems to arouse the interest of the Karlsruhe court, which is in need of expansion. On September 1, 1797, he was given official permission to set up a bookstore, and on December 20, 1797, he was granted the privilege to set up a printing house. From now on Müller publishes important pieces of legislation.
1986 CF Müller Verlag is taken over by the Dr. Alfred Hüthig took over and relocated to Heidelberg. Through the merger of the law / economics / taxes division of the Hüthig publishers with the Munich Jura publishing house Jehle Rehm, CF Müller becomes a publishing brand of the Hüthig Jehle Rehm publishing group . In 2014, CF Müller finally became a brand of the spin-off CF Müller GmbH, which has belonged to the Otto Schmidt publishing group since 2020.
