C1q nephropathy
The C1q nephropathy is a rare disease of the renal corpuscle , which occurs primarily in children and young adults with an average age from 10.2 to 24.2 years. Diagnosis is by histological examination of a tissue sample from the kidney asked if, in the immunohistochemical study deposits of C1q complement component detected in the glomeruli. C1q nephropathy is a controversial diagnostic entity . The term was first used in 1985 by Jenette and Hipp to describe 15 patients with predominant or predominant deposition of C1q in the renal corpuscles. The urine examination of patients with C1q nephropathy reveals a wide spectrum, ranging from asymptomatic changes in the urine to severe proteinuria and nephrotic syndrome . A hematuria may be absent or be present. In the histological examination there are glomerular minimal changes , a mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis or focal sclerosis . Proteinuria responds poorly to treatment with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants . In the course of the disease, minimal change glomerulonephritis can turn into focal sclerosis . In patients with minimal change glomerulonephritis, the prognosis is favorable and kidney function usually remains stable. For patients with proliferative glomerulonephritis and focal sclerosis, the prognosis is poorer and a deterioration in renal function must be expected. In individual cases, the C1q deposits can disappear over time.
