history

CCUnirent System GmbH was founded in 2002 as a franchisor in the car rental industry. In the same year the then UniRent Autovermietung GmbH acquired the trademark rights to CCRaule from the Dutch owner Athlon . The company offers its services in three business areas: on the one hand for automobile manufacturers interested in setting up a rental system under their own manufacturer's brand, on the other hand as a franchisor (focus on medium-sized car rental companies) and as a cooperation partner. The franchise partners operate around 100 rental stations in Germany under the CC Rent a car brand .

From June 2010 to December 2017, CCUnirent System GmbH operated the in-house rental system of the Mazda dealers for Mazda Motors Deutschland GmbH under the Mazda Mobil brand .

Since early 2015, the CCUniRent also supervised System GmbH mobility brand Sweden fleet on behalf of Volvo Car Germany GmbH for the German distributor of the Swedish importer.

The name change from CCUnirent to Choice took place on March 13, 2018 and was intended to underline the clear market positioning as a full-service enabler for operators of modern mono- and multimodal mobility offers. The Choice brand was supplemented with the claim “wow the world”. Over the years, the company has developed from a vehicle purchasing company and franchisor to a comprehensive enabler for Mobility-as-a-Service.

On November 1, 2018, the subsidiary Choice Spain & Portugal SL, based in Madrid, was founded. In a first step towards the internationalization of the company, Choice thus expanded its Mobility-as-a-Service offer to the Iberian market.

On September 7, 2019, the second foreign company, Choice Austria GmbH, was founded. The company is based in Vienna. According to its own information, Choice Austria supports vehicle manufacturers and importers, independent mobility providers, research and politics as well as municipalities and city administrations in the implementation of sustainable mobility concepts. The managing director of Choice Austria GmbH is Harald Böttcher, an employee of the German parent company.
