T-cell surface antigen CD2 is a surface protein .

properties

CD2 binds to LFA-3 (CD58) and CD48 / BCM1 and mediates cell adhesion between T cells and other cell types. CD2 is involved in the activation of T cells. The cytoplasmic area transmits signal transduction , which leads to an increase in the secretion of interferon-gamma and interleukin 8 and the formation of tumor necrosis factor . CD2 is glycosylated and has disulfide bridges .
