Integrin α-1 (synonymous CD49a ) is a surface protein from the group of integrins .

properties

Integrin α-1 is a cell adhesion molecule . Together with integrin beta-1, it forms a heterodimeric receptor for laminin and collagen . It binds to the amino acid sequence GlyPheHypGlyGluArg in collagen. It inhibits the activity of the EGF receptor . Integrin α-1 is glycosylated . It is expressed in mesenchymal cells , immune cells and some epithelial cells. It is involved in the composition of the extracellular matrix and in cell division and survival signals .
