Integrin α-6 (synonymous CD49f ) is a surface protein from the group of integrins .
properties
Integrin α-6 is a cell adhesion molecule . Together with integrin beta-1 and integrin beta-4, it forms a heterodimeric receptor for laminin on platelets and laminin on epithelial cells , IGF1 and NRG1 . Integrin α-6 is glycosylated , phosphorylated and palmitoylated . It is a cell type marker for stem cells from the male germline. Mutations in integrin α-6 are involved in the development of epidermolysis bullosa .
Integrin α-6 binds to TSPAN4 and GIPC1 .
