The Winnenden train station is the train station of the city of Winnenden and at the same time the only train station in the city area. It is located on the Waiblingen – Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental railway , a few hundred meters northwest of the town center and about one kilometer south of Leutenbach . The station is served by Regional Express trains and S-Bahn trains.

history

The station was built with the construction of the line on October 26, 1876. At that time, track 1 on the house platform was the continuous line track. With the double-track expansion of the Murrbahn from 1962 to 1965, the station experienced major track plan changes, while electrification and integration into the Stuttgart suburban traffic took place at the same time . The line has been swiveled a little on both sides of the station, and since then tracks 2 and 3 have been the continuous line tracks. With the expansion of the S-Bahn in 1980, the platforms were raised to a height of 96 cm. The freight traffic system north of the reception building had to give way to a park + ride area. The fourth, platform-free track was also dismantled.

Forecourt

In front of the train station there are several Park & Ride car parks, a train station kiosk, bicycle parking spaces and a taxi rank. In the reception building there is a Deutsche Bahn travel center and toilets on the ground floor . Rental apartments are provided on the upper floors.

Platforms

The station has a total of two platforms, including the house platform (track 1) and a central platform (tracks 2 and 3). As planned, track 1 is no longer used for passenger traffic, track 2 is assigned to the regional express trains and S-Bahn trains in the direction of Backnang, and track 3 to those in the direction of Stuttgart. The station is located in tariff zone 3 in the area of the Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS).
