Club Deportivo Anáhuac , CD Anáhuac for short , was a football club from the Mexican state of Nuevo León . The team known by the nickname Gavilanes ( Spanish for falcons ) played their home games in the Estadio Tecnológico of Monterrey .
history
The club was founded by José Fidalgo under the name España and played for many years in the Liga del Norte , which was organized on an amateur basis, and between 1953 and 1955 in the Segunda División , which was then the second highest division in Mexican club football .
The CD Anáhuac won its first game in the Segunda División on August 9, 1953 in the Estadio Tecnológico with 2-0 against Atlético de Veracruz . On the fourth matchday it came in the Estadio Tecnológico, also used by the city rivals CF Monterrey , for the first Clásico Regiomontano in a competitive game, which Anáhuac won 3-0. On December 6, 1953 Anáhuac won the second city derby of the season with the result of 1-0.
At the end of the 1954/55 season, the club withdrew from the Segunda División due to financial problems.
