The Estadio Tecnológico was a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Mexican city of Monterrey , Nuevo León state . The stadium was located on the campus of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) University , which also owned the building.

The horseshoe-shaped and uncovered Estadio Tecnológico was opened on July 17, 1950 by the then Mexican President Miguel Alemán Valdés . The original capacity was 19,000 spectators. Today the stadium offers 38,622 seats.

In the Estadio Tecnológico the football club CF Monterrey played its home games since the 1950 season. The American football team of the Borregos Salvajes del ITESM campus Monterrey ( Spanish wild sheep ) also played their home games here in the Mexican American football league ONEFA . In addition, athletics competitions were held. Occasionally the stadium was also used for other major events without a sporting character, such as concerts.

In 1986 the Estadio Tecnológico was one of the twelve stadiums of the World Cup . Previously, it was one of eight venues for the 1983 Junior World Cup .

The stadium was demolished and replaced in 2019 by the Centro Deportivo Tecnologico, which was built in the immediate vicinity and could hold 10,000 spectators. It has since served as the home of the Borregos Salvajes team .

As early as August 2015, CF Monterrey moved to the newly built Estadio BBVA Bancomer with over 50,000 seats , which was officially opened on August 2, 2015.
