The Estadio BBVA Bancomer is a soccer stadium in the suburb of Guadelupe, east of Monterrey , in the Mexican state of Nuevo León . The stadium is located on Avenida Pablo Livas in the immediate vicinity of Parque La Pastora ( zoo ). The sports facility is named after the BBVA Bancomer , which acquired the naming rights. The original construction project started under the name Estadio de Fútbol Monterrey . history
After planning for the stadium had already started in 2008, the project was finally approved in August 2011, so that construction work could begin in October of the same year.
The stadium was completed in the summer of 2015 and officially opened on August 2nd, 2015 with a meeting between the future host CF Monterrey and the Portuguese record champions Benfica Lisbon . The first goal scorer in the new stadium was César Montes, who made his first appearance in the Rayados' first team in that game and in the 48th minute scored the 1-0 lead for the hosts, who ended up with the game 3-0 decided in his favor.
Nine days later, the first official match took place at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer, which CF Monterrey played in a league MX match against CF Pachuca on August 11, 2015 . The first goal was scored by Ariel Nahuelpan, who gave the guests a 0-1 lead in the 16th minute and was also responsible for the 0-2 13 minutes later. Monterrey was able to turn the game around and were 3-2 up after 63 minutes before Rubén Botta equalized after an assist by Ariel Nahuelpan in the 69th minute. When it looked like a point was shared, Aldo de Nigris scored the winning goal in the last minute to make it 4: 3 for the home side.
