CEA AN-52

The CEA AN-52 was the first tactical nuclear weapon of the French Arméé de l'air.

It was a free-falling bomb that was first tested on August 28, 1972 and was designed to protect France from a threat from the Soviet Union . The weapons were in the arsenal of the French Air Force until 2001 and were replaced by the ASMP . This nuclear bomb existed in two different versions with 8 and 25 kt explosive power. About 80 to 100 of these 455 kg, 4.2 m long and 60 cm wide bombs were produced.
