CEDRAC

CEDRAC ( Center de documentation et de recherches arabes chrétiennes ) is the abbreviated name of the research and documentation center for Arabic Christianity. It is affiliated with the Université Saint-Joseph , Beirut - Ashrafija .

The internationally known center for researchers and budding scientists was founded in 1986 by Samir Khalil Samir and incorporated into the Université Saint-Joseph in 1996.

The center has 23,000 books and multimedia units. The disciplines are history , philosophy , philology , natural sciences and religious studies : Christian , Islamic and other religions from the region with a focus on Lebanon , Syria , Iraq , Palestine and Egypt . The literature in several languages ​​includes documents on these religions from their origins to the present day. In addition, seminars and conferences are organized and publications made and published.

The CEDRAC sees itself in the tradition of the researchers Louis Cheikhô and Georg Graf , who worked on this area in Beirut at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century .
