CF Cuautitlán

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Club de Fútbol Cuautitlán , or CF Cuautitlán for short , was a Mexican football club from Cuautitlán de Romero Rubio in the state of México from 1996 to 2017 . His home ground was the Estadio Alberto Pérez Navarro .

history

In 1967 the club was one of the founding members of the Tercera División, which was still third class at the time . Thirty years later he won the now only fourth-class league in the 1996/97 season and rose to the now third-class Segunda Division .

By expanding the Primera División 'A' from 17 to 21 teams, CF Cuautitlán was included in the second division for the 1997/98 season and spent the next two seasons there. His most successful half-season was the summer tournament in 1999 ( second half of the 1998/99 season), when the group won and for the only time it was possible to move into the Liguilla . There Cuautitlán failed in the quarterfinals against Cruz Azul Hidalgo (1: 1 and 2: 2) only because of the fewer points scored in the league (28 versus 32).

Before the 1999/00 season, CF Cuautitlán sold his license to the Lobos de la BUAP and retired to the Segunda División, where the 1999 winter tournament won the championship straight away. However, Cuautitlán lost the promotion final held at the end of the season against the back round winner Marte Morelos FC , who played the following season under the name "Potros Marte" in the second division .

The CF Cuautitlán was represented up to and including the 2006/07 season in the Segunda División before his license was transferred to San Agustín Tlaxiaca to allow the Universidad del Fútbol a starting place in the Segunda División.

In the 2012/13 season the club was again represented in the Segunda División.
