Diego Alfonso Martínez Balderas (born February 15, 1981 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

society

Martínez began his professional career in the 1998/99 season with the second division CF Cuautitlán and moved for the following season to the Lobos de la BUAP and then to the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz , both of which played in the same league .

At the end of 2000 he signed with Club Necaxa , where he made 135 first division appearances by the end of 2005 . In early 2006 he moved to Mexico's most popular club, Chivas Guadalajara , with which he won the Mexican championship in the 2006 Apertura . Although he is still under contract in Guadalajara, he has been on loan for various other clubs since the beginning of 2008 and was no longer used at Chivas. With the CF Monterrey he came in the Apertura 2009 to another championship title.

National team

Martínez made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on February 4, 2003, when they lost 1-0 to Argentina. His last international match against Sweden on January 28, 2009 was lost with the same result.

He scored one of his three international goals on March 10, 2004 against Ecuador (2: 1), on March 31, 2004 against Costa Rica (2: 0) and on October 26, 2005 against Uruguay (3: 1).

Martínez worked, among other things, in the national team at the 2004 Olympic football tournament .
