CKHJ (also known as Fredericton's Country Station) is a privately owned radio broadcaster based in Fredericton , New Brunswick , Canada . Current country music charts are broadcast . The station broadcasts on the frequency 1260 AM. The program is also fed into the Internet and the digital cable network. The masts are on Royal Road, northwest of Fredericton. Other transmission masts that broadcast the program are located in New Maryland and Oromocto.

history

The station began broadcasting on August 19, 1977 under the name CIHI. In June 2000 the transmission frequencies were swapped among the sister stations. CIHI took over frequency 105.3 and CKHJ was switched to 1260 AM.

CKHJ together with CIHI were acquired by Radio One Ltd. operated until 1999. These transmitters were sold to Telemedia Communications in 1999. In 2002 there was another sale to Astral Media.
