CR series BJ
The CR series BJ is a diesel locomotive made in China . The locomotive is also called Beijing because it comes from the CNR wagon factory in Beijing. The model is one of the most successful Chinese diesel locomotives with hydraulic power transmission . Trial production began in 1970. The 6,000 hp freight locomotive, for which the series was originally designed, remained a prototype and, after a few series of tests, was replaced by a 3,000 hp passenger diesel locomotive, which began mass production in 1975. Since then, a number of other models of this locomotive type have been further developed. The BJ series locomotives were the main passenger locomotives in the northern and central regions during the 1970s to 1980s, and on many rail lines such as the Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai route, the Long-Hai, Jing Bao, Jingshan, the former Beijing Railway. By the end of production in 1990, the number of units built was 374.
The Beijing type BJ diesel locomotive from the 27th locomotive factory in Beijing was mainly produced as a four-axle locomotive with hydraulic power transmission for passenger traffic. It has a nominal output of 1500 kW; the maximum speed is 120 km / h. Beijing locomotives are of two types. A four-axle single locomotive that is specially equipped for freight or passenger traffic and which was nicknamed "Little Beijing" by locomotive fans. An eight-axle double locomotive that bears the real name "Beijing" and is only used in passenger trains. Locomotives of these two series will now gradually be phased out, but China will continue to use by far the most successful locomotive with hydraulic transmissions.

Accidents
In the course of history, three accidents have become known, all of which are said to have occurred in the early morning hours and all of them due to human error in the form of rear-end collisions . The first happened on September 16, 1984 on the south-leading part of the Zhengzhou Railway with a 3188 locomotive in front of a passenger train, in which 37 passengers were injured. On January 15, 1990, seven people were killed and 12 injured in the same region. Three and a half years later, on July 10, 1993, there was an accident at the Beijing – Guangzhou Company on the Beijing – Chengdu line near Shijiazhuang with locomotive 3168 also in front of a passenger train, in which 40 people were killed and 48 were injured, some seriously. A driver of a heavy freight train drove almost unbraked into the stopping train.
