The CT Arzneimittel GmbH was a drug manufacturer based in Ulm , which mainly generics produced. The best-known brand from CT was Tussamag . On March 18, 2010, the company was sold to the Israeli company Teva and merged with AWD.pharma ( Arzneimittelwerk Dresden ).

history

The pharmacist Albert Mendel and the businessman Paul Preuss founded the wholesale drug trade in Berlin in 1917. It expanded quickly and delivered beyond the city limits to Thuringia, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg. Albert Mendel AG was founded in 1922. With that, the young company began producing its own drugs.

The company moved to Berlin-Tempelhof in 1932 and was called Chemische Fabrik Tempelhof / Preuß und Temmler from then on . After the Second World War , parts of the company were dismantled by the victorious powers, so that Paul Preuss re-founded the company under the name "Chemische Fabrik Tempelhof".

The company changed its name in 1984 and became known as ct-Arzneimittel Chemische Tempelhof . CT Arzneimittel stopped developing in-house and concentrated on the production of generics.

The company was part of the Merckle group of companies until March 2010 and operated as a separate brand within the Ratiopharm group.

In 2013 the company merged with AbZ-Pharma, another subsidiary of Teva. The company's products will continue to be sold through AbZ-Pharma.
