CXC motif chemokine 2 (CXCL2) is a protein belonging to the chemokine group .
properties
CXCL2 is produced by activated monocytes , macrophages and neutrophils at the site of inflammation and recruits polymorphonuclear leukocytes and haematopoietic stem cells . Amino acids 5 to 73 show a chemoattractive effect on neutrophils. CXCL2 has two disulfide bridges . CXCL2 binds to CXCR1 and CXCR2 . It is formed in response to lipopolysaccharides . It is 90% identical to CXCL1 . In humans, the gene on chromosome 4 is in a gene cluster with other CXC chemokines.
