description

The plastered and pink painted main facade of the palace faces the Rio de Sant'Agostin and shows influences of the architect Mauro Codussi . The four-story house consists of a ground floor, a mezzanine floor above and two main floors. There is a wide dormer on the roof . As with most palaces in Venice, the facade is divided into three parts. The middle part is separated from the two outer parts by half-columns made of Istrian limestone with Ionic capitals ; such half-columns also delimit the facade at the corners. The individual floors are separated by cornices made of the same material.

The ground floor has a pointed arched portal to the water, flanked by two pairs of square windows. There are six rectangular windows on the mezzanine and in the middle, above the portal to the water, a large family coat of arms of the Donàs with a doge horn above it. The eye-catcher of the facade is the quadruple arched window with a protruding balcony on the first main floor. It is flanked by two pairs of rectangular single windows with rounded tympanums above. Under each of these individual windows there is a round plate in Istrian limestone. Blind round windows are located above all the windows on the first main floor, one above each individual window and three above the quadruple window. The second floor also has a quadruple arched window in the middle and a pair of rectangular single windows on the sides. The dormer window with quadruple rectangular windows sits in the middle above a serrated eaves . A large chimney head is attached to both sides of the dormer window and small tourelles sit at the corners of the roof . All windows - even the blind ones - have frames made of Istrian limestone.
