Cabeus is an impact crater near the south pole of the Earth's moon . In this position, the crater is visible from the earth almost from the side. Due to the lack of sunlight, it is almost always in deep shadow, so that you can hardly see any details, even from orbit. It is west of Malapert Crater and south-southwest of Newton .
Cabeus was the impact target of the LCROSS on October 9, 2009 . A deposit of frozen water was discovered.
