The Cabeza la Mesa (1605 m, according to other sources 1612 m) is the highest peak of the Peña Maín mountain range in the northern part of the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa , which are part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain . The summit offers an unobstructed view of the highest and most famous mountains of the Picos de Europa, including the Naranjo de Bulnes and the Torre de Cerredo , to the south . There is a survey mark on the summit. Only about 250 meters to the east is the Cabecina Quemada , which is only slightly lower at 1590 m.

Easiest to reach the summit is either from the north, from Tielve , via paths through pastures and through beech forests, or alternatively from the southeast, from Sotres , through open terrain.
