The Cabinet des Médailles is the coin and antique collection of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris . The official name is Département des monnaies, médailles et antiques . It is located in the old Bibliothèque nationale building on rue de Richelieu. The museum's holdings are no longer to be exhibited in the future (see web link) due to the renovation of the entire Richelieu quarter.

The collection houses around 520,000 coins and medals, around 35,000 art objects and a library of 80,000 titles. The most important piece in the collection is the so-called Grand Camée de France . The showpieces of the collection include the ivory carved Charlemagne figures , one of the most important chess games of the European Middle Ages.
