Cabletron Systems

Cabletron Systems was a major American network supplier .

The company was founded in 1983 in Massachusetts by Craig Benson (later governor of New Hampshire ) and Robert Levine. The company moved to Rochester, New Hampshire and temporarily employed 6,600 people. It manufactured network equipment such as routers and switches . In 1997 she bought the network division of the company DEC .

When the competition, for example from Cisco and 3Com , became too great, the following subsidiaries were formed in February 2000 and acted as their holding company: Enterasys Networks , Riverstone Networks , Aprisma Management Technologies and Global Network Technology Services .
