Craig Benson

Craig Benson (born October 8, 1954 in New York City ) is an American politician . He was governor of the state of New Hampshire from 2003 to 2005 .

Life

Benson attended high school in Chatham , New Jersey . After graduating with a bachelor's degree in finance from Babson College in 1977, Benson completed a business degree from Syracuse University , graduating in 1979 with a Master of Business Administration .

In 1983, Benson founded Cabletron Systems . Until it was split up in 2000, Benson was the company's CEO with brief interruptions .

Benson has been a visiting lecturer at Babson College since retiring.

Craig Benson is married with two children.

Political career

Craig Benson is a member of the Republican Party . On November 5, 2002, he was elected as their candidate for governor of his state. Benson took up his new position on January 9, 2003. As governor, he advocated budget cuts. Soon after he took office, there were irregularities in his government, especially in the award of contracts. His Justice Minister Peter Heed resigned about this. Further rumors of similar events led to his being voted out of office in 2004. Therefore, he had to resign on January 6, 2005.
