New Hampshire Governor

Peterson took up his new office on January 2, 1969. After re-election in 1970, he was able to serve as governor until January 4, 1973. As such, he mainly took care of the household. There was a big boom in New Hampshire then. This led to an increase in the cost of infrastructure and thus to greater government spending. For this reason, the governor tried to counteract this development by increasing income. Among other things, sales tax was increased. At the same time, attempts were made to save money in the administration. At the end of his reign, Peterson had even managed to generate a budget surplus.
