Christopher T. "Chris" Sununu (* 5. November 1974 in Salem , New Hampshire ) is an American politician of the Republican Party .

Life

His father is the former New Hampshire Governor John H. Sununu . His brother is former US Senator John E. Sununu . Sununu studied engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . In New Hampshire's November 8, 2016 gubernatorial election, he won against Democrat Colin Van Easter . He thus succeeded Maggie Hassan , who in turn was elected to the US Senate. On January 5, 2017, he took the oath of office, officially becoming the new governor of New Hampshire. Sununu is married and has three children.
