Chuck Morse

Chuck Morse (born October 11, 1960 in Salem , New Hampshire ) is an American politician . He was acting governor of the state of New Hampshire for three days in January 2017 .

Career

Morse graduated from Plymouth State University and then embarked on a political career. He joined the Republican Party . Between 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the New Hampshire Senate for the first time . He has been a member of this body again since 2013. There he became head of the Republican parliamentary group and finally President of the Senate. Since the state of New Hampshire does not have the office of lieutenant governor , his duties under the state constitution are assumed by the respective Senate president. For this reason, Morse had to serve as governor on an interim basis between January 3 and January 5, 2017. He bridged the time between the resignation of Maggie Hassan and the assumption of office of the new governor Chris Sununu . He then continued his role as Senate President.
