Calare (constituency)
Coordinates: 33 ° 18 ′ S , 148 ° 55 ′ E
Calare is one of 150 constituencies used to elect the Australian House of Representatives . The constituency extends from Parkes to Lithgow . It bears the original name of the Lachlan River , which is called Kulair by local Aborigines .
The constituency was created in 1906 after the Canobolas constituency was abolished . At first it only included the towns of Forbes , Orange and Parkes . During the reallocation in 2006, the constituency was greatly enlarged. Much of northwestern New South Wales (between Brewarrina and Menindee ) was added and the constituency border was moved southwest to Cowra .
In 2009, the expansion was partially withdrawn and the northwestern areas were transferred to the Parkes constituency .
