Cali Swag District (CSD) is an American hip hop group from Inglewood , California.
history
The four members of the Cali (fornia) Swag District attended the same school in Inglewood and were put together and supported by Big Wy and Darold Potts of the Checkmate Music Group . From the dance move from a song called D-Town Boogie , which came from Dallas , they made the Dougie and wrote Teach Me How to Dougie . The song was viewed over nine million times on the YouTube video portal and the remix almost twice as often. Its huge popularity on the internet resulted in the song staying on the US charts for 20 weeks, reaching number 28. It made the top 10 on the R&B and rap charts, and even topped the Heatseeker charts. Eventually it went platinum .
On May 15, 2011, the band member M-Bone (actually Mante Ray Talbert) was shot in his hometown from a passing car . The background to this is unclear; it is possible that he was a victim by chance . JayAre (actually Cahron Childs) died on June 6, 2014 at the age of 25 from complications from sickle cell anemia .
