The California State Route 246 (abbreviated CA 246 ) is a state highway in the US state of California , which runs from west to east direction. It begins in the west on the western edge of the city of Lompoc and ends after about 42 km in the east on State Route 154 near the town of Santa Ynez .

The road begins on the outskirts of Lompoc and from there runs east through the city center, where it joins California State Route 1 . East of the city it crosses the Santa Ynez River , to which it runs roughly parallel on its entire route and leads to the northeast, then to the east and southeast. At Buellton , the State Route crosses US Highway 101 and after a few kilometers leads through Solvang , which was founded by Danes and built in a Danish architectural style. Further to the east, California State Route 246 touches Santa Ynez and passes Santa Ynez Airport . The road finally ends at California State Route 154 about two kilometers east of Santa Ynez.
