Call to Arms is the 19th studio album by the British heavy metal band Saxon . It was released in June 2011 on the Militia Guard Music, UDR and EMI labels .

history

The album was recorded in early 2011. Fans were invited to the studio in February to record the background vocals for the piece Back in '79 . Front man Biff Byford stated that the band wanted to go more "back to the roots" with the album. The sound should sound more like “working class”. Since the recordings were delayed a bit, the band had to cancel a performance at the Australian Soundwave Festival . Don Airey , currently active on Deep Purple , made a guest appearance on the album.

reception

The website Allmusic .com awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars. Eduardo Rivadavia compared the album to Denim & Leather from 1981 and called it its "closest related cousin".
