Calocoris alpestris is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 9.2 to 11.1 millimeters long. Like many other soft bugs, they are completely green in color, but are easily recognizable due to their size and elongated body shape. Your first antennae is very long and longer than the head is wide. In some individuals, the base of the scutellum is drawn in a fine dark shade, as is a fine, thin collar behind the head.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is common in Europe. The northern limit of distribution runs over the British Isles and Scandinavia, in the south south of a small distribution gap in the low mountain ranges of Central and Eastern Europe including the Alps to the Carpathians. In Germany it is widespread in the Alps and only as an island in all regions of the low mountain ranges up to the northern edge of the hill country. It is not often here. In Austria it is absent in the Pannonian part and has been found in the Alps up to about 2000 meters above sea level.
Microclimatically more humid, partially shaded areas are populated, especially in tall herbaceous areas.
Way of life
The bugs live polyphagous on different types of plants. Just like Calocoris affinis , they occur early in the year. The adult bugs sometimes appear alongside the nymphs as early as the end of May. In July and August only a few females can be observed.
