Calpis
Calpis ( Japanese カ ル ピ ス , karupisu ) is the trade name of a popular Japanese soft drink from the company of the same name, which was sold in 2012 by its owner Ajinomoto to the beer manufacturer Asahi Group Holdings for around $ 1.5 billion . It is made on a milk basis and its taste is best comparable to yogurt dissolved in water . The name is a combination of " calcium " and " Sarpis " (butter), one of the five Buddhist flavors for dairy products .
In the west, Calpis is often offered under the name Calpico because of the negative name appeal .
