Calverton National Cemetery
The Calverton National Cemetery ( Calverton National Cemetery ) on Long Iceland is the area after the largest state cemetery in the United States . It measures 1,045 acres , equivalent to 4.23 km² . The cemetery is owned by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs .
The cemetery is in the East Long Island between the towns of Manorville and Riverhead in Suffolk County . It opened in 1978. After Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, N.Y., which was established in 1862, and Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, which opened in 1936, Calverton Cemetery is the third national cemetery on Long Island.
