Cambiamo! (short C !; translated "Let's change it!") is a center-right party in Italy , which was founded in August 2019 by the former Forza Italia politician and president of the Liguria region , Giovanni Toti .

history

After the 2019 European elections , Silvio Berlusconi appointed Forza Italia (FI) national coordinators Giovanni Toti and Mara Carfagna in June 2019 with the aim of reforming and revitalizing the party. After only a few weeks, however, Toti left the party due to differences with Berlusconi, who had not supported Toti's proposal for open primaries, and prepared the establishment of "Cambiamo!" in front. The reasons for the split, according to Toti, were the lack of internal democracy and the lack of clarity for Forza Italia regarding the alliance with the Lega Nord and the national conservative party Fratelli d'Italia (FdI), which Toti supported.

In September, four MPs (Stefano Benigni, Manuela Gagliardi, Claudio Pedrazzini and Alessandro Sorte) left Berlusconi's Forza Italia to join Cambiamo. Together with a fifth MP who had previously left FI (Giorgio Silli), they organized the new parliamentary group called "Cambiamo! - 10 Volte Meglio". In addition, four senators (Massimo Vittorio Berruti, Gaetano Quagliariello , Paolo Romani and Luigi Vitali), as well as several regional politicians from Lombardy (including Romani's son) and from Lazio announced that they would also join Cambiamo! trespass.
