The Huneeus Glacier ( Spanish Glaciar Huneeus , in Argentina Glaciar Namuncura ) is a glacier on the Black Coast of the Palmerland in the south of the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows south of the Eielson Peninsula into the Lehrke Inlet .
Chilean scientists named him after the Chilean politician Ricardo Huneeus Gana (1870-1951), who, as foreign minister of his country, had initiated funding for the first Chilean expedition to the Antarctic, which, however , did not materialize due to the consequences of the earthquake in Valparaíso on August 16, 1906. The namesake of the Argentine name has not been passed down.
