In the 2006 elections she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as a candidate for Forza Italia, and in the 2008 elections - as the third candidate of the PDL in the " Campania  2" district - she was re-elected. When she first came to Parliament, Berlusconi commented that Forza Italia would practice the law of the first night ; the right of a feudal landlord to the first night with the still virgin bride. On November 20, 2010, Carfagna announced her resignation as minister and from all other political offices on December 15, 2010. The main reasons she cited was the conflict with party leaders in her home region of Campania, especially Nicola Cosentino , because of the garbage disposal problems. Controversy

In January 2007, she got caught up in a controversy about Silvio Berlusconi , who, when she was awarded the Telegatto television prize , remarked to her that he would marry her immediately if he wasn't already married. This remark led his wife, Veronica Lario, to a letter to the daily La Repubblica demanding a public apology; Berlusconi promptly followed this request. Carfagna herself described Berlusconi's comment as "gallant and harmless" and said she did not fully understand Lario's reaction.

On July 5, 2008, the Argentine newspaper Clarín reported telephone records of an approved surveillance for an anti-corruption investigation. Reporter Julio Algañaraz wrote that Carfagna and Silvio Berlusconi had a telephone conversation with explicit references to oral sex . The tapping protocols themselves were not published.
