The Cambridge Singers are an English a cappella - Chamber Choir Ensemble .

Founded by John Rutter in 1981, the choir initially consisted of singers from Clare College , where Rutter was the director of the musical branch. With the aim of recording sacred choral music via the choir's own label Collegium , the ensemble achieved several successes. In addition to a recording of Georg Friedrich Handel's Messiah , numerous CDs with works by Rheinberger , Tallis and some pieces by Rachmaninov , Victoria and Sheppard have been released . Since the choir was founded, several Christmas CDs have been recorded under the titles Christmas Night , Christmas Star , Christmas with the Cambridge Singers and Cambridge Singers Christmas Album .
