The Cambridge Z88 is a small notebook with liquid crystal display based on the Zilog Z80 - processor and built from April 1987th

It was produced by Cambridge Computer , a company that Sir Clive Sinclair founded after he sold the Sinclair Research computer business to competitor Amstrad in 1986 . Because of the deal with Amstrad, he was no longer allowed to sell computers under his own name. Despite some success, mainly in Great Britain, the Z88 could not prevail overall and was Clive Sinclair's last computer.

The Z88 emerged from Sir Clive Sinclair's project Pandora Portable Computer, which has dealt with the development of the computer since the mid-1980s.

Usage today

The Z88 still has a fan base today, so the device is still in use by fans. Quite a lot of software can still be purchased for the device, including games and utilities. Since 1998 there has been a 1 MiB flash memory card that is used as a non-volatile data storage device . The Z88 was first shown to the public in Which Computer? Show presented on February 17, 1987.
