Cameron Buchanan is a Scottish Conservative Party politician and a member of the Scottish Parliament .

Life

Buchanan attended St Edwards School in Oxford and then studied at the Sorbonne in Paris . A scholarship enabled him to study Japanese economics. As the head of an Edinburgh textile company, he often went on business trips to the Far East and America and was named Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year in 1992. Furthermore, Buchanan was head of the British Wool Marketing Board until 2010 . He is also Chairman of the British Tailors Welfare Association. In 2010 Buchanan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. However, he recovered and subsequently initiated the Cameron Buchanan Fund to raise funds for brain tumor research. Buchanan lives in Edinburgh with his wife Emma . He speaks five languages ​​including German, French and Italian.

Political career

So far, Buchanan has stood in two European elections for the constituency of Scotland , but missed both in the 1999 election as fourth on the Conservative electoral list and in 2004 as third placed in the European Parliament . Meanwhile, Buchanan held the post of Vice President of the Scottish Conservative Party. After the death of his party colleague David McLetchie in 2013, of a list mandate of the election region Lothians held, Buchanan was declared the next placed. On September 4, 2013, he entered the Scottish Parliament for the first time and was sworn in.
