Live and act

Camilla Gerzhofer was discovered for the stage at the age of two and a half and was initially allowed to appear in Burgtheater productions on a trial basis . Already at the age of 6½, in autumn 1894, the little girl had achieved the rank of “court actress”, since then she has been regularly seen in Burgtheater performances and even got the opportunity to meet Emperor Franz Joseph I. Arthur himself Schnitzler recalled her when he met personally Camilla Gerzhofer 1896 in the Burgtheater. A decade and a half later, on October 14, 1911, Camilla Gerzhofer was to play the role of Marie Rhon in the world premiere of Schnitzler's Das weite Land . After the First World War, the Viennese also played theaters in the provinces (including in Mährisch-Ostrau and Linz ) before she was not permanently engaged in the 1930s.

During her time at the Burgtheater, in 1914/15, Camilla Gerzhofer also undertook her first excursions in front of the camera, beginning with the sensational film The Ride of Death on the Ferris Wheel , where she took on one of the two main female roles as a circus performer. However, it was only in the early days of the sound film that this medium was more important to them, when Gerzhofer took part in a number of supporting roles in cinema productions, especially in the mid-1930s. She also cast Willi Forst twice: she played a socialite in the Burgtheater , in Women Are Not Angels , her last film, she took on a mother role. After that, it became completely quiet about the withdrawn actress. Even Gerzhofer's exact date of death is currently not known.
